My baby girl turned 4 on Tuesday.
Holy molies, where has the time gone? Whoever originally said that the days are long and the years are short was totally right.
I am not sure I even want to attempt to put into words what this girl means to me. The Lord has used her to teach me so much about Himself, myself, and how wonderfully joyful and messy this life can be. This girl is a whole lot of me in a little body that looks a whole lot like her daddy. I wouldn’t have it any other way (well, maybe the whole lot of me part. But I trust that God knew what He was doing when He designed her precisely, preciously, and perfectly).
I just wanted to share some of our fun day together as a family! Jordan was able to take a half-day off in the morning to celebrate with us, which was SO special for that little girl. The day really was just perfect.
(Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but I don’t have a fancy smancy camera, and I decided a while back that I’d rather enjoy the quality of being in the moment than worrying about the quality of a photo. So we’re just going settle for cell phone pix for the time being.)
The Day started out with Natalie waking up to our home being transformed into a party house (i.e, streamers in the living room, hanging from the hallway doorway, and in the kitchen). She had two cards, a birthday hat, and a decorated chair waiting for her in the kitchen.

Next we went to IHOP for a special breakfast, and then on to the $1.00 movie to see the LEGO movie.
Next on the agenda was lunch at Taco Bell, one of the Sweetness’ favorite lunch joints and then a much-needed nap. Neither of these I felt were really photo-worthy, so use your imagination. 🙂
Then Natalie helped me bake her cake, we opened her package from Nanny & Pops, and then after dinner we were able to enjoy the cake with the most.sprinkles.ever.
The beloved baby Anna doll, with the requested baby bottle (and bonus diapers). Nanny hit this was out of the park. The girl had been talking about this for months and we weren’t even sure it existed.
And for the birthday finale, we had a glow stick dance party in the living room.

Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to be the mother of this one very spirited, clever, stubborn, funny, particular, and just plain ole amazing little girl. Her daddy and I continue to pray the passage that You gave us for her before she was born, that is written on her wall under the paint, and that we will continue to pray over her for the rest of her life.
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
